Digital signatures are a form of identity verification that can be added to word documents and PDFs. See directions or a video to show how to insert them in Word documents. Not to be confused with simple e-mail signature inserts, digital signatures are a means of authentication for legal documents, like letters and contracts. You can create your own simple one, or you can pay to subscribe to a company that will verify your signature.

Term of the day: Backstage
The Ribbons all contain sets (groups) of related commands for creating and changing your document, while the FILE tab (Backstage view) contains the set of commands you use to do things with your completed document. Click File to manage your documents and related data about them — create, save, and send documents, inspect documents for hidden metadata or personal information, set options such as turning on or off AutoComplete suggestions, and more.
